About Malmo
Malmö is Sweden's third largest city with a population of about 270,000. It was first mentioned in the 12th century. Initially under Danish control, it was captured by the Swedish King Magnus Eriksson in 1332, was regained by the Danish King Valdemar Atterdag in 1360, and finally passed to Sweden in 1658 under King Karl X Gustav in 1658. It is a modern industrial city with a large university. Notably, its two most famous sights are modern structures: Santiago Calatrava's Turning Torso building, and the Öresund Bridge connecting Malmö with Denmark.
